The Wellness Institute


The Wellness Institute is seeking a Foot Care Nurse to provide care within a multidisciplinary environment. Treatment may include professional care of nails, corns, callouses, as well as assessment of foot health, circulation, sensation, swelling. Determination of risk for development of foot ulcers, or other abnormalities, which may need referral to other healthcare professionals. Day shifts are available.

• Provide client care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, and education
• Perform specialized nursing procedures specifically to foot care for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated.
• Observe and document client conditions and changes in accordance with professional standards.
• Understand and implement infection prevention practices while specifically adhering to care standards as it relates to foot care, and diabetic foot care.

Graduation from an accredited Licensed/Registered Practical Nursing Program and current registration with the provincial licensing body. Continuing education of foot care skills and knowledge is required. Member of the Association of Foot Care Nurses of Manitoba preferred.

Demonstrates clinical competencies related to the provision of foot care, previous experience with Geriatric and Diabetic populations considered an asset; positive interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written; critical thinking and analytical skills; decision making skills; ability to prioritize; clinical certificates considered an asset.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely; able to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed; able to visually observe and assess clients. Current CPR certification and evidence of malpractice insurance required.
